Setting the Stage for a Future Sale
SUCCESS STORY
FROM $0 - $40+ MILLION: DRAMATIC GROWTH OF THE COMPAN INCLUDING ITS EXPANSION INTO THE LATIN AMERICAN MARKET
The Challenge
To develop a unique name, brand statement, tagline and graphic identity for a newly created records and information management company that would mark the return to the industry of one of its most important and formative figures, J. Peter Pierce. Peter had only seven years before merged Pierce Leahy Archives with the similarly sized Iron Mountain forming the largest player in the industry globally.
Client: Retrievex
Project Timeline: 2007 - 2012
Services Provided: Brand Experience Design + Organizational Development
The Process
After successfully deploying the new and exciting Retrievex brand on signage, vehicles, records containers, uniforms and all related collaterals, The Moving Company participated in the dramatic growth of the company including its expansion into the Latin American market where the non-word Retrievex played beautifully while all related tags and materials translated well.
In 2012, The Moving Company was tasked with the graphic and copy development of marketing materials needed to assist Executive Leadership and equity partners in supporting the sale of the now $40+ Million company to one of a number of diverse prospective purchasers.
“Over the years, I have found that the selection of a name, the entity’s mission expression, graphic identity and initial policies and training documentation are absolutely critical to the new company’s initial launch as well as its long-term success.
I have often relied on Rip’s counsel in expressing our mission, graphic identity, and policies and training. Together, we have not fallen short.”
J. PETER PIERCE, FOUNDER AND CEO - RETRIEVEX
Problem Solved
The numbers tell the story: zero to $40+ Million in revenues during a short, five-year period. The Retrievex brand and bright red graphics were readily embraced and became easily recognizable in each major U.S. market in which the company expanded and in Costa Rica.
The successful sale of the company to Access Information Management in October 2012 confirmed, in at least a small part, the value of the supporting materials developed to communicate the company’s value. Additionally, the overall value of our company’s contribution to Retrievex’s successful growth was clearly acknowledged as The Moving Company was immediately engaged to handle the merger of the two companies, a complete, immediate rebrand of “the new Access” and an ongoing, comprehensive, far-reaching engagement that continues today.
